Tell Me the Good News

So tell me some good news… anything big or small. I want to hear everything, don’t spare the details.

I say this all day long, especially before every class I teach... I want you and your brain to get used to highlighting all the positive in your life and in your world.

It is so easy to spread gossip or bad thoughts. I am not sure why, but socially our ears perk up with: Hey Did You Hear… and it is usually a happy thing.

I remember asking a few of my close friends why many people want to hear the negative stuff and they said because it made their lives look better. I guess that is a good point, your life doesn't seem so bad when you listen to other people's issues.

Or… maybe it is Just a habit, and we have to retrain our brains to dwell on the good stuff instead.

And just maybe we need to realize there is always good and bad things, but we can choose to see more of the good.

And just maybe we can be happy for the good fortune of other and know it is possible for everyone.

Whatever the reason, try telling and listening to as much good news as possible for one week and let me know how you feel.

Hey did you know?

“Happy thoughts and positive thinking, in general, support brain growth, as well as the generation and reinforcement of new synapses, especially in your prefrontal cortex (PFC), which serves as the integration center of all of your brain-mind functions.” https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/prime-your-gray-cells/201108/happy-brain-happy-life

Focusing on the positive can help your mind be more open to other perspectives, learn more information, and reduce stress. Take if, from me, there are so many benefits to training your brain to see mostly the good news.

One of my good friends also believes in a positive mindset. I have known Jacky for years and years, and here is what she says about living a life where the glass is half full.

“Never listen to the negativity of people. If you block it out, your day will be amazing. I guarantee you that. Act like you are listening, but let it go in one ear and out the other. Choose to live in peace and don’t let negative vibes ruin your day.”

How great does that sound? In one ear and out the other… well, it is possible for you too. Now what you have all been waiting for. How I focus on the good news:

  1. Wake up with a big giant smile and say to yourself, “I can’t wait to find out all the good news today.” Then open up your eyes and look all around for it. You will be amazed by everything that you find.

  2. When you first see people for the day, walk around and ask them what the good news is. Get them to focus on the good news too and you will all get your day started on the right foot and have a great rest of your day.

  3. See if you can spin it in a positive way. Even when things come up that are said with a negative tone, what can you do to spin? For example, you don’t have a problem, you have an amazing opportunity for growth. There’s always a positive lining.

  4. Surround yourself with positive people. If you are around others that love life and are passionate about being happy, then you will be less likely to be pulled down into negative emotions, and more likely to see good news everywhere you turn.

  5. Expect miracles with ease and flow. If you wake up expecting to see good news and for great things to happen, then they will. It will all work out. Trust me.

Start with just one hour, one day, one week. See if you can notice what your thoughts and feelings are. Try to spin it in a positive way. Just try, and you will see a whole different world.

Have fun.
